From Visuals to Vibrations: The World of NUDNIK

Before his Alternative Retro Modern Art Rock sound became famous, Robert Marc Lieblein was creating worlds through design and motion. Based in Las Vegas, Robert began with chords but with color – as a motion graphics designer. His visuals contained tension, emotion, and rhythm – which later found their way into his music under the label NUDNIK.

NUDNIK started in 2015 during Robert’s experimental synth phase. What started as layered soundscapes developed into structured songwriting as he rediscovered his affinity for guitar and lyricism. That transformation was captured on his debut album iNODE: a contrasts – driven sound that mixed analog grit and digital sheen. He calls the project a “dark and sultry offering of the state of the world we inhabit” and “a straightforward slap in the face.”

Robert has influences which happen to be deliberate – Duran Duran, Love 1and1 Rockets, Jane’s Addiction, Nine Inch Nails, Wilco & Radiohead. You can hear his music from these names: somewhere between alternative rock nostalgia and modern art experimentation. Each track feels cinematic, derived from the storytelling instincts which guide his visuals. NUDNIK is a one-man band though the sound is wide enough to fill an area.

Inside the Sound of “iNODE”

Listening to iNODE is like standing in a futuristic dream where light and distortion pulse together. The album is harsh but vulnerable, and the feeling is equally haunting and hypnotic. Mellow passages melt into guitars and synths, and Robert’s vocals grind through quietly.

Each song on iNODE paints fragments of a post-apocalyptic world – love missing, communication fracturing, loneliness settling in. But through that bleakness there’s hope. The construction and collapsing of the melodies reflects the human cycle of falling apart and finding meaning again.

You can hear Robert’s background in design. His soundscapes are edited to the extreme: every layer has a purpose. You can audibly hear the visual texture in tracks which sound mechanical but organic. The music is immersive and demands listeners see as much as they pick up.

Why His Art Resonates Beyond Music

NUDNIK’s story is much more than an album release – it is a reflection on just how contemporary artists produce in a fragmented world. His music expresses tensions of isolation and connection, structure and chaos, desperation and fleeting hope. The apocalyptic tones in iNODE are not fantasy but reflect the world of digital noise and emotional disconnect. Through that reflection Robert captures something universal: seeking meaning when everything feels temporary.

His work is “deep and intuitive,” which instinct is what helps make it relatable. In his world, beauty typically arrives through distortion. His songs remind listeners that losing is an element of being alive and that even the darkest frequencies contain resonance.

Robert is now creating his follow up album Under the Underground. The title suggests something raw, hidden and experimental – a continuation of his pursuit of the spaces beneath mainstream sound. His future goals include collaborating with filmmakers to fuse his visuals along with live performances. Evolution is the only constant for an artist like NUDNIK.
